Allegany County: SPCA needs Theme Basket Donations

The SPCA is looking for donations to help fill these baskets for the 25th Annual Theme Basket Auction this weekend.
The 25th Annual SPCA Theme Basket Auction takes place this Friday and Saturday at a new location in Wellsville and help is needed.
For its anniversary the Auction has moved to the vacant K-Mart building in RiverWalk Plaza and the doors will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
The benefits o the new location are many. There is not only more room, there is more parking and winners will have an extended period of time to pick up their winnings, according to SPCA President Linda Pruski.
But before the auction can take place, the SPCA is looking for basket donations to fill up the bigger space.
"We have more room than ever before, so the Children's Corner and the Man Cave will be bigger. We also have prints and stationary cards done by artist Jan Benz that will be available to purchase. Those attending will be able to sit down and enjoy the food we have to offer or just rest. There will also be Blue Light Specials in keeping with the K-Mart tradition," she said.
Items for the auction are being still being accepted. Anyone who wants to donate
items to the auction may email SPCAallegay@gmail.com or call 585-593-2200 to make arrangements for pickup. Items may also be dropped off at First Citizens Community Bank in Wellsville and the ALCO Federal Credit Union branches located in Wellsville, Belmont, Friendship and Cuba. The SPCA is also accepting baskets at the former K-Mart building from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. through Thursday.

"Donors do not have to worry about "dressing up" or decorating their items or baskets, "Our fine volunteers will do that for them and put a bow on it," Pruski said.

The proceeds of the auction will benefit the animals in the SPCA's new shelter and Pruski says, "No only do we thank you for your donation, but so do our furry friends."
