Allegany County: Belfast man faces serious charges in violent assault, robbery
A Belfast man faces serious felony charges following a violent assault in Caneadea at 7:48 p.m. Tuesday. State police arrested Nolan J. Cox, 24. After a several hour investigation and search, Troopers took Cox into custody at 82 N. 3rd Street in Allegany. He was charged with felony assault for allegedly reckless causing serious injury with a weapon. According to radio reports, another man was stabbed and hospitalized. Cox was also charged with first-degree robbery causing serious injury and concealing or destroyed physical evidence. A large state police contingent responded to the scene on Crawford Creek Road. Investigators processed the scene for several hours. Arraigned in court, Cox was remanded to the Allegany County Jail. Bail was set at $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond. He will return to Town of Caneadea court on September 11th.
