The Mission Genesee Valley coalition of churches, other
Christian organizations and individuals seeking community transformation and
revival in the county and beyond will host a multi-group presentation of
activities -- What God is Doing in Allegany County -- in front of the David A.
Howe Memorial Library from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Exhibits include:
-- David Peralta, a music missionary at Knights Creek Church
at Scio and a member of the Simon Bolivar Venezuelan National Symphony
Orchestra, will provide music at different times throughout the event. Information on free music lessons for
children and an opportunity to try out a violin also will be available in the
sitting area.
-- Free copies of the Life Book that presents answers to
issues teens face will be provide by Knights Creek's ministry for children, youth
and young adults. Information on The
Landing, a companion to the weekly adult Celebrate Recovery | Celebrate Victory
ministry to help teens struggling with all types of issues, including low
self-esteem, bullying, relationships and more, also will be available.
-- A free book for children and a paperback guide for moms
on child sporting events, will be available from the Hope Center, a Mission Genesee
Valley outreach initiative at facilities on Bolivar Road, to highlight its free
reading assistance for children and adults. The Center also serves as a
drop-in, information and referral and education center for a wide-range of
services and issues in the county that are of concern to residents and churches
and is developing a Christian lending library and book giveaway ministry. Information
will be available on how interested individuals can become Hope Center
ambassadors within their churches, families, neighborhoods, communities and
workplaces.
-- Celebrate Recovery - Allegany County will highlight its
three weekly support groups at Houghton, Scio and Wellsville, along with
Celebrate Recovery Inside at Allegany County Jail, for adults trying to cope
with any type of hurts ,hangups, habits and life struggles, even those ongoing
for years.
-- Photos for Souls of Alfred will show some of the free
downloadable photographs, many of them from the area, that are available on its
online outreach website at www.photosforsouls.com.
-- Intervarsity Christian Fellowship of Alfred, a student
chapel and Bible study, will provide information on its ministry to college
students.
-- Release time
religious education for Wellsville Elementary School students, re-starting in
the fall, will be previewed.
-- Awana Clubs at Wellsville Bible Church, re-starting
Sunday nights on September 22 for ages three to eight, will be
highlighted. Children spend an hour and
a half weekly having fun and learning the Word of God through three different
time segments.
