This is one of the most significant vehicle crashes ever, in Allegany County. In 1995 four people were also initially killed when a car crashed on County Road 28 (East State Ext) in the Town of Wellsville. Killed in that crash, were James A. Morley, 26; Daniel Payne, 28; and Deborah Dibble, 32, all of Wellsville; and Ms. Dibble's brother, Steve, 29, of Worcester, Mass.
A fifth person, Russell Stebbins, later succumbed to his injuries.
Also, in April 1949, five men were killed when the vehicle they were in struck a tree in Elm Valley, between Wellsville and Andover.
