When the Allegany County Legislature gavels into session at 2 p.m. of June 10th, it will very likely appoint Deborah McDonnell of Ohio as the new County Administrator. Her annual salary is expected to be $124,000. Tim Boyd holds the job right now, but has a retirement goal which includes a relocation back to Pennsylvania. However during Monday's session, legislators will be asked to create a temporary, part-time position of Administrative Assistant. If that resolution is approved, the legislature would then vote to appoint Mr. Boyd to that role. The position would then be abolished effective September 1st. During a recent interview with Curt Crandall (R-Belfast) who leads the Board of Legislators, he said Boyd had information about county operations that would be valuable to his replacement. He said it would help "ease the transition." The cost involved to ease that transition will be payment at a rate of $56 per hour for Boyd. Legislators plan to cap the knowledge transfer at $10,000.
