On March 1, 2019, at approximately 9:18 p.m. State Police responded to a report of a two car personal injury accident on I-86 eastbound in the town of Corning. The operator of an eastbound vehicle attempted to overtake another eastbound vehicle and struck that vehicle from behind.
The operator of the vehicle that attempted to pass, Randy Hugg, age 53, is employed as a senior investigator with the State Police, and was off duty at the time of the crash. He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, and was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
The occupants of the second vehicle were not injured.
The investigation is continuing.
