PERRY — Wyoming County police confirmed to The Daily News a retired Wyoming Sheriff sergeant and current Perry Town Board member was charged with second-degree murder of another man after an incident at his home Wednesday afternoon on Route 246.
Deputies charged Joseph S. Mylniec of 2468 State Route 246 Perry Road with second-degree murder at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday. Mylniec was arraigned in front of acting Perry Justice Michael Mohun, who is a Wyoming County judge, and sent to the Wyoming County Jail without bail.
Police told The Daily News around 5 p.m. Wednesday Mylniec allegedly shot another man at his home.
Wyoming County Sheriff Gregory Rudolph and Wyoming County District Attorney Don O’Geen met with other law enforcement members before the investigation started at the farmhouse over potential conflicts of interest. O’Geen said they determined the department could handle the investigation.
Police confirmed Mylniec retired about 10 years ago and he has had limited contact with the sheriff’s department. Read more HERE.
