Watch where you surf...the illusion of privacy

President Trump this week signed into law a measure that will allow your internet service provider to sell your personal data - including your web browsing history. The apps you download, email info...it's all fair game now. What's next? The post office can open my mail?
Surprisingly, the issue did not make the field of questions during Congressman Tom Reed's weekly media call. While there has been some protest, it has been relatively low key. While I realize privacy is just an illusion, if I search for cancer or other medical issues, I really don't want Verizon to sell it to a third party hack.  I've been in email conversations with my doctor this week...is that fair game?
My parents and grand parents used to shake their heads at changes...the way I did things versus how they handled things. I never fully understood their concern. I'm beginning to now.
From what I've read, the law was passed to support businesses...profits. Quite frankly, if Verizon or others can't make enough money with what they charge now, there should be a management change!
I've also read there are ways to protect your internet privacy...but nearly every 'solution' costs $$ and has detractors.
I know people who don't use the internet...don't even own a computer. Probably the wisest, and safest, people I currently know.
