Wellsville: Potential workforce reduction at Dresser-Rand/Siemens UPDATED

Although there has been no official confirmation from corporate officials, a number of workers have told us there will be noticeable layoffs at Dresser-Rand/Siemens in Wellsville. An employee meeting was held at the Coats Street facility on Wednesday. Based upon differing emails received, layoffs could impact more than 90 workers. The layoffs, many have said, would occur by late summer. We've reached out to company officials for a response.

Statement  from Siemens Government Technologies on upcoming loss of jobs at Dresser-Rand in Wellsville:
"Ongoing changes in the global energy market continue to pose challenges for oil and gas equipment suppliers. While we continue our efforts to position Siemens Government Technologies' Wellsville plant for long-term competitiveness, current order volume at the facility does not support the plant's existing manpower level. As such, in the coming months we will align the plant's workforce to match its workload, with the potential for up to 95 positions to be affected either by elimination or relocation to Burlington, Iowa."
