Timothy Rigas released from federal prison

A former Adelphia Cable executive has been released from federal prison and has returned to Coudersport, PA. 63-year-old Timothy Rigas was set free Monday after serving a federal prison sentence for fraud and conspiracy. He wasn’t due to be released until June 3, 2022, but a new federal act made it possible. Rigas will need to spend the remainder of his sentence under home confinement. His father, 94-year-old John Rigas, was released from federal custody in 2016. According to WGRZ, Timothy and John Rigas, who also owned the Buffalo Sabres, were both convicted on federal fraud and conspiracy charges back in 2004. Prosecutors argued that they used company funds as a personal piggy bank. Adelphia eventually filed for bankruptcy.
