Wellsville, NY - Beverly J. Dixon, 72, of 3456 Baldwin Road died on Friday February 3, 2017 at the Wellsville Manor Care Center. She was born July 23, 1944 in Wellsville, the daughter of the late Donald and Arletta (Hall) Dixon.
Beverly was a 1963 graduate of the Wellsville High School. She began her career at Super Duper and later at Loblaws until it closed. She then worked for her mother and great aunt at Sarge’s Sub Shop on South Main Street in Wellsville. Beverly, her mother, and sister then started Dixon’s Sub Shop in Olean, which later moved to West Fassett Street in Wellsville until it closed in 1979. She then started a 20 year career at Jones Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1999. During those years she also cleaned the offices of Doctor Sale and Doctor Graham in Wellsville and Doctor Coch and Doctor Ogden in Andover. In 1999 she started Dixon’s Sub Shop on the Bolivar Road in Wellsville, until it closed in 2005. She then was employed Save-A-Lot and the Wellsville Elementary School as a lunch monitor, where she enjoyed the children very much.
Beverly enjoyed baking hundreds of dozens of cookies, wedding cakes and all sorts of goodies over the years. She also enjoyed spending time with her family both in Wellsville and Clearfield, PA.
She is survived by a brother, David (Peggy) Dixon of Wellsville, a nephew, Joshua Dixon, a niece, Jasmine Dixon, a great niece, Aleeya Billings, several aunts, uncles, cousins and her beloved Boston Terrier, Jo-Jo. She was predeceased in addition to her parents by a sister, Colleen D. Dixon on June 1, 2014.
A private service is being planned for a later date. Burial will be with her parents and sister in Woodlawn Cemetery.
