Scholastic Challenge is a fast-paced contest which tests
knowledge of academic trivia and current events. Teams of four students from grades 6-12
measured their ability to recall details from a wide variety of topics. This translated to about 200 students and
coaches, who participated in the double-elimination contest. Throughout the day, thousands of questions
were read aloud to these ambitious teams.
Spectators are also encouraged to come out and watch the competition,
which is always an impressive display of intelligence with camaraderie,
graciousness and good sportsmanship. The following school districts were also
represented in the competition: Franklinville, Friendship, Genesee Valley,
Hinsdale, Pioneer, Portville, Randolph, Wellsville, West Valley, and
Whitesville. The annual regional
competition is sponsored by Cattaraugus-Allegany BOCES Instructional Support
Services Student Programs.
