Wellsville: Vehicle strikes building, causes serious damage UPDATED WITH NAME-NEW UPDATE


An out of control vehicle slammed into a building on Madison Street in Wellsville at 1:30 a.m. Saturday. Two occupants of the overturned vehicle were transported to Jones Memorial. Serious damage was done to the building, located at the entrance to the Municipal Parking Lot. Glass and debris were scattered in the street and lot. Wellsville EMS (two rigs) and fire (Dyke Street & Genesee Hose) responded to the scene. Wellsville Rescue (R-1,2,4) called for a technical rescue crew to the scene. Urgent calls from rescuers were placed to Code Enforcement based on concerns of structural integrity. The street and general area were closed for about two hours.
At 9 a.m., a worker was on scene evaluating the damage. According to tax records, the property, at 20 Madison Street, is owned by James Raptis. More information when it becomes available. Police have referred all questions to the police chief. We've reached out and hope to receive a reply.

2nd UPDATE-Feb. 20:
Ritter was also charged with Reckless Driving.  Ritter is due to appear in Wellsville Village Court on February 28th at 4:30 pm.  Additional Charges are still pending.
