Alfred University to install new laundry equipment in on-campus residential facilities

Max Koskoff, director of Residential Communities, said the university is pleased to announce a new partnership with Caldwell & Gregory, a Virginia-based commercial laundry leasing company, to improve and modernize students’ laundry experience. Caldwell & Gregory is leasing a total of 113 new washers and dryers, which will make doing laundry on campus a more convenient, efficient, and hassle-free experience.

Installation of the new equipment will be completed before students return to campus for spring 2025 semester classes, which begin Jan. 21. “This campus-wide refresh will enhance the student experience and make it more accessible for students to do laundry on their own schedules,” Koskoff commented.

Alfred University provides students living on campus laundry services free of charge. Koskoff explained that the state-of-the-art Speed Queen washers and dryers can be monitored via an app, which will notify students by text when their laundry is done, or when washers and dryers are available for use. If a piece of equipment is not functioning properly, Caldwell & Gregory is notified immediately; the company guarantees a response to address the problem within 48 hours.

Koskoff noted the washers and dryer will be set up for both top loading and front loading, thus maximizing accessibility.

The agreement will place new laundry equipment in all university residential buildings, with the exception of specialty residential houses. Koskoff said those facilities have already had washers and dryers updated recently.

Caldwell & Gregory has a long-standing reputation for delivering excellent service and innovative solutions to campuses nationwide. Their commitment to enhancing student life aligns perfectly with Alfred University’s dedication to supporting student well-being and success.

The agreement with Caldwell & Gregory addresses one of the primary needs students have expressed regarding residential life. “One of the most common requests from students has been for new and improved laundry facilities,” Koskoff said. “Students will come back from break and (new washers and dryers) will be there.”

Koskoff said in addition to providing new laundry equipment, Caldwell & Gregory has committed to supporting Alfred University through philanthropy, including helping maintain and improve spaces housing laundry equipment.
