The Allegany County Board of Legislators
acted to award funding provided by New York State focused on supporting youth
development projects and activities via local nonprofit organizations and/or
municipal-operated youth programs. The
funding was secured by Don Horan, Commissioner of Social Services, and winning
applications were recommended by the Allegany County Youth Bureau.
The following awards are under the Youth
Sports and Education Opportunity:

Grant
money was awarded for the purchase of safety equipment, AEDs, field
maintenance, uniforms, mats, batting helmets, referee fees, shoulder pads and
more. All awardees must support positive youth development, physical health and
well-being, mental health and well-being, and community cohesion. Commissioner
of Social Services Don Horan shared, “I’m very pleased that Allegany County was
able to secure these funds for our youth sports and recreation in the County,
and I believe it will have a very positive impact on our youth.” In addition, Allegany County Youth Bureau
Coordinator Brian Perkins would like to extend thanks to all coaches, parents,
and community members who participate in youth sports and education for the
advancement of Allegany County youth.
