Obituary: Jeffrey T. “Jeff” Olmstead, 56, Bolivar

Jeffrey T. Olmstead    “beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, and brother”

BOLIVAR, NY---Jeffrey T. “Jeff” Olmstead, 56, a lifelong resident of Bolivar, passed away unexpectedly in Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, with his loving family by his side on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

Born on Tuesday, October 24, 1967 in Wellsville, he was a son of Richard G. and Frances A. Warner Olmstead.  On June 24, 2000, in Bolivar, he married the love of his life and best friend, Amy D. Claypool, who survives.

Jeff was a graduate of Bolivar High School, Class of 1985.  Jeff started his working career as a mechanic at the age of 15 with his “second family” at the former Bob’s Auto Body in Bolivar, retiring when Bob closed the business.  He and the Dean family held a very close relationship.

Jeff enjoyed 4 wheeling, camping, fishing, and spending time with his family, most especially the time he spend with his grandchildren.  He had a very humorous spirit.  His smile lit up the room. His favorite song was Spirit in the Sky by the Kentucky Headhunters.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife; his mother, Frances Webb, of Little Genesee; four children, Tiffany N. (Raymond) Jordan of Fillmore, Brittany M. (Clint) Bedelyon of Friendship, Tabitha A. Main of Bolivar, and D.J. Main of West Virginia; two siblings, Diana M. (Paul) Fenti of Bolivar and Ronald Olmstead of Florida; fourteen grandchildren; a niece, Renea Rhodes; a nephew, Joseph Fenti; several loving cousins; and his three fur babies.

In addition to his father, Richard G. Olmstead, Jeff was predeceased by his stepfather, William L. Webb, whom Jeff considered a second Dad; and a nephew, Matthew Fenti.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Jeff’s Life from 3pm to 7pm on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at the Richburg Fireman’s Clubhouse, Griffin Street, Richburg.

Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the family to assist with expenses.

Jeff’s family has entrusted his care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA.
