There was a tragic, violent and upsetting situation late Monday morning at Oil Springs Casino on West Shore Road in Cuba. Allegany County 911 reported over the air that there was an active disturbance in progress at the casino. That prompted a massive response from law enforcement. Initial reports appeared to indicate that no one inside the building sustained any injury. EMS was called for a person nearby the scene to be medically evaluated. A 'radio silence' alert was issued as police arrived and investigated the scene. That investigation is ongoing at the time of this post. A formal statement from law enforcement is expected at some point.
Shortly after noon, the casino issued this statement on Facebook:
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we will be closed until further notice. Please refrain from visiting until we announce our reopening. We apologize for the inconvenience but ask that you please respect the current situation for yours and our safety.
NOTE: This post has been edited from the original story after speaking with a family member. While the original story was not harsh...the family member asked for some modification, which I agreed upon.
