FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  AC Dems Offer Rides to Early Voting Polling Locations 

The Allegany Democratic Committee is coordinating round-trip rides to early voting locations for Allegany County voters who lack reliable transportation.  This is another way our party works to serve our community. 

Allegany County voters may cast their vote at any of the county’s early voting polling sites, regardless of where they reside. This service is available to any voter, regardless of party registration, who lacks reliable transportation and would otherwise be unable to vote.

·         The cut-off for requests is 5:00 pm on Sat., Nov 2^nd.

·         We’ll ask for your name and address so we can match you to a volunteer driver in your area.

·         We’ll ask for your phone number, so your driver can call you to set an appointment that works for you both.

 

On the Day of your Appointment:

·         Your driver will call you in the morning to confirm that day’s appointment.

·         When your driver arrives, they will show you their valid driver’s license.

·         Voters must sign a hold-harmless agreement.

·         Your driver may pick up additional voters on the way to the early voting polling location.

 

Mobility Issues:  We are unfortunately unable to assist voters exiting or entering their homes, in or out of the vehicle, or in or out of the polling place.  If you have mobility issues and need assistance, we can offer the option of having your designated helper ride along to assist you.

 

No Additional Errands: This volunteer service is solely for getting voters to the polls and back home. The drivers cannot supply transportation for errands or appointments. 

 

Early Voting Only: Because so many of our volunteers serve as Election Inspectors on Tues., Nov. 5^th, we cannot offer this service on Election Day. This service is for early, in-person voting only.
