Allegany County looks to reduce spending in wake of COVID-19

Allegany County will likely take more action stemming from the coronavirus pandemic. When the legislature’s Ways and Means Committee convenes at 1 p.m. on Monday (8/10/2020), it will consider a resolution directing all Department Heads to delay any unnecessary purchases for the remainder of the year. According to the resolution under consideration…“Allegany County will likely face unprecedented fiscal challenges unplanned for in its current 2020 Budget.” The action is being considered in order to mitigate any potential revenue losses and increases in expenses associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. The full board will meet Monday afternoon at 2 p.m.
