Sobeck-Lynch likely to continue as Employment & Training Director in Allegany County

When the Allegany County Planning & Economic Development Committee meets January 15th, it is expected to reappoint Reita Sobeck-Lynch as the Director of Employment and Training. The full Legislature will need to approve this.
 
From the county administration to the committee...The three-year term of Reita Sobeck-Lynch as Employment and Training Director will expire on February 28, 2020.
 
If the Committee desires to reappoint Ms. Lynch for the three-year term commencing February 29, 2020 (normally March 1), and expiring February 28, 2023, please have a motion to that effect included in your
minutes, along with a request to the County Attorney to prepare a resolution.

General Information
Front Door Traffic: 375
Employment: 2 customers reported full time& reported part-time employment
Unemployment: November rates: Allegany County 5.0%; NYS 3.9%; US 3.3%. Locally, 20 new unemployment insurance applicants~ 2 fired, 15 layoffs from several employers and 1 left employment for other reasons.
Veterans: 4 Veterans, 3 new, utilized our services for the Department of Labor & registration
Business Services: 55 services provided to 55 businesses (2 new business contacts) for outreach, job listing, matching, follow-up, referrals, Youth Program worksite development and open recruitment. Administered 14 TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) tests~ 4 DSS, 9 private industries and 1 for training. 53 jobs in Allegany County were listed with the NYS Department of Labor in November.

Safety Net/Family Assistance Employment Assessment Class (EAC): 7 assessed, 3 completed class, 4 denied, 1 exempt
Non-Custodial Parent Program: 32 active participants; 16 employed
WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) Program Year 7.1.2018-6.30.2019
Youth: 18 enrolled youth, 9 in unsubsidized employment & 1 new, and 1 in Work Experience, and 39 Youth received services in December.
Training: 4 in training~ 2 Dental Assisting, 1 in Medical Office Assisting, 1 CDL
Training related Employment: 1 Dental Assistant and 1 Certified Nursing Assistant
Training Approved: 9 at ASC, CABOCES & JCC
Trade Act: 8 Outreach contacts and 4 in training for Computer Information Systems, Culinary Arts, CDL A & Electrical Engineering

Outreach: Funding presentations at Alfred State College both campuses
