ALFRED, NY - Take a break from studio visits during Allegany
Artisans Weekend or stop by after the Ridge Walk anytime between 10-3p.m. to join
us at the Rosebush on Sunday, October 20th. The Alfred Farmers Market is
hosting a 100% Farm to Table brunch that features ingredients entirely from
their own local vendors. Tickets are $20 per person and must be reserved or
purchased before Wednesday October 16th. Thanks to the generosity of George
Mickle, owner of the Rosebush in Alfred, the Alfred Market will be hosting this
inaugural fundraiser meal. The goal is to raise $1,000 that will help keep the
market connecting farmers and residents for years to come.
The menu is perfect for the fall season and was made to be
adapted to be vegetarian-friendly. To start, the menu features potato leek soup
(bacon optional) and a tender green leaf salad with vegetables from Living
Acres Farm in Alfred Station, NY. For the main dish, the market is showcasing a
Western New York favorite: beef on weck. The Stewart Family Farm is baking a
Kaiser Roll with Sugar Haven Farm and Mascho Homestead Farm providing the beef.
Vegetarians will be pleased with a PLT sandwich, also on a Kaiser Roll but
containing fried greens, tomato, onion and cheese by Living Acres Farm and
Stewart Family Farm. For dessert, participants will be served a Lemon Verbena
Cookie made by Bread for All Bakery in Arkport, NY. This cookie is made with
verbena from their garden and is perfect to top off an excellent meal. Drinks
at the bar will be available but must be purchased separately through the
Rosebush.
Please consider showing your support by attending this one
of a kind artisanal event. Meet your friends, neighbors, and farmers on October
20th and enjoy the bounty of the season. Tickets can be purchased online, by
logging on the main page of their website, www.AlfredFarmersMarket.com. Tickets
can also be reserved by emailing marketmanagerinalfred@gmail.com and paid for
at the Rosebush or by mailing a check to PO Box 142, Alfred Station, NY 14803.
