Wellsville: Village seeks Community Development Block Grant

The Village of Wellsville hopes to secure up to $1 million in grant funding for upgrades at the wastewater treatment plant. The village board held a public hearing Monday night on the application process. The grant would award federal money. Applications are due by July 26th. To demonstrate compliance at least 51% of the project beneficiaries must qualify as low and/or moderate income. Information handed out by the village board last night shows the Allegany County median income is $57,600 with low and moderate incomes levels at $52,950.
In other matters addressed by the Board:
  • Authorized the police department to sell 6-7 bicycles it has been holding onto as found property.
  • Authorized the Mayor to sign a one-year extension agreement with the MYISO for purchase of Historic Fixed Price Transmission Congestion Contract at the offered price of $40,369.76 per MW. This cost will be passed through to rate payers through the Purchased Power Adjustment each month.
