The Office for the Aging team came out to thank the Order of the Eastern Star members, along with their Community Partner team members, for their hard work. |
With the culmination of a five-month long series of
fundraisers, the Allegany District Order of the Eastern Star was able to donate
a total of $5,210. 45 to Allegany County Office for the Aging-Meals on Wheels
Nutrition Services program.
Meals-on-Wheels or Home Delivered Meals are delivered all
over Allegany County five days a week, Monday through Friday through the
Allegany County Office for the Aging.
The first-year meals were delivered in Allegany County was 1975, and a
total of 18,305 meals were served.
Meals are currently delivered to every part of Allegany County by a
network of paid and volunteer drivers involving almost 100 people. They have 9
Senior Luncheon Centers, serve Meals-on-Wheels to almost 500 individuals, and
offer Nutrition Education and Counseling, and Exercise classes.
The members of the Eastern Star teamed up with several
community partners to raise funds from a variety of events. Allegany Eastern
Star members joined with the Richburg Fire Company and Ladies Auxiliary to
sponsor a special Benefit Bingo event.
Eastern Star membership collaborated with the Wellsville Save-A-Lot
store with the sale of paper “Plates” which were prominently displayed on the
store front windows. Funds were also raised at a Thirty-One Gifts party hosted
by Kristen Ives, Posh Products party hosted by Heather Cox, Tastefully Simple
party hosted by Debbie Kling, and Parklane Jewelry Party hosted by Karyn Pratt.
Donations were also made by members and friends of the Allegany District
Eastern Star.
Madeleine Gasdik, Director, Allegany County Office for the
Aging, has expressed her thanks for all those who participated in and supported
the efforts for this donation, “Thank you again for all your hard work for the
elderly of Allegany County! You are
making sure everyone who needs a meal will get one!”
