Fire consumes Centerville home

Close to a dozen fire departments from four counties battled a house fire Saturday evening at 11445 North Hill Road in Centerville. Departments from Centerville, Fillmore and Rushford first received the call at 7:20 p.m. Firefighters were told by county dispatch that a propane tank, located on the front porch, may be involved. When the first Rushford Chief arrived, he reported the structure was fully involved in flames.

Departments providing stand-by coverage included:
  1. Short Tract
  2. Oramel
  3. New Hudson
According to county tax records, the home is owned by James and Shirley Moreland. The American Red Cross was requested to assist two adults. It took several hours before the blaze was declared under control. Centerville Fire Department returned to service around midnight. Fire investigators were called to the scene to probe for the cause.
