Letter writer says Sheriff Whitney is a "giver"

To Whom It May Concern:
It is a pleasure for me to write on behalf of Sheriff Rick Whitney. I have known Sheriff Whitney for many years through our membership and association with Lions Clubs International.
During that time, I have had numerous opportunities to view and work with him in his various leadership roles. As a leader, he sets his goals, clearly defines his expectancies, develops his strategies and, equally important, leads by example. He is a good listener, always giving opportunities for input from his colleagues, a most important aspect of his leadership abilities. He listens and weighs all information prior to making any judgments.
Sheriff Whitney is a "giver''. He gives of himself to the benefit of others. In Lions International that giving is to those in need. Be it a child in need of medical attention or a senior citizen needing just a simple personal contact, Rick is there to provide what is needed and want etc... and he does so without expectation of praise or public recognition, it is private to him.
As the former Mayor of the Village of Dansville, I am well versed in the importance of strong leadership within our law enforcement agencies. I am likewise well versed in the knowledge that such leadership comes from dedication and dedication is certainly one of Sheriff Whitney's strongest attributes. As he serves Lions Clubs International with dedication, he has done likewise with the County of Allegany as your Sheriff.
Sheriff Rick Whitney is an asset to us all, regardless of his role, professionally or through service to others.
