Hornell announces Spay Neuter Program

The City of Hornell is happy to announce a unique opportunity for its residents to have their cats spayed or neutered when residents license them. The City of Hornell will be assisted in accomplishing this program by collaborating with Hornell Area Humane Society.

City residents through the years have complained about the cat population and this is a great opportunity for the City to make a significant difference. An average female cat can have 1-8 kittens per litter and 2-3 litters per year. During her productive life, one female cat could have more than 100 kittens. Spaying or neutering can help reduce the cat population in a humane and proactive way. The goal of the program is to spay/neuter 100 licensed cats in the City of Hornell in 2017.
How do residents take advantage of this program? City residents can contact the Hornell Area Humane Society to complete a spay/neuter application and schedule an appointment. Residents must provide documentation that their cat has been licensed prior to the appointment. Proof of documentation will be all that is required for payment. This program is open to the first 100 licensed cats from the City of Hornell.
