Hunt man faces drug charge after I-390 traffic stop


INTERSTATE 390: Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Hunt, NY resident as part of the Sheriff’s Office initiative “Operation Safe Interstate.” On April 11, 2017 Deputy Connor Sanford was patrolling Interstate 390 when, according to a press release, he observed a vehicle and traffic law violation.  The Deputy Sheriff stopped the vehicle and met with the operator, Zachary G. Pruonto, age 31. It was discovered that Pruonto's driver's license was suspended for his failure to pay child support and he was taken into custody for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree. During his arrest, Pruonto was allegedly found to be in possession of Suboxone strips, which is a controlled substance.  Pruonto was additionally charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree. Pruonto was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail. Pruonto was later arraigned on the charges in the Town of Avon Court before Justice Piampiano.  The Judge remanded  Pruonto to the custody of the Sheriff on $500 cash or $1,000 bond.
