Wellsville: How inexpensive is village electric?

Mayor Randy Shayler began Monday night's village board meeting by discussing a recent analysis of powers costs in the village, compared with the state cost and national costs. After reviewing the findings, Shayler noted that "our cost to our residents and businesses are significantly lower." Shayler said in order for comparisons to be accurate, the study included all charges for power, demand, fees, taxes, etc. Shayler said the study showed that village of Wellsville electric customers pay less than one-third the New York State average and less than half of the U.S. average.
For small commercial customers, the village price is roughly one-half the New York State average and less than three-quarters the national average. For large commercial customers, they pay lewss than five center per kWh. Shayler called this "good news."
