Details of Incident: On May 31st, 2025 at approximately 0413 hours, Alec W. Kessler, 28, of Wellsville NY was taken into custody and at approximately 0428 hours, Ashley M. Sweet, 31, of Wellsville NY, was taken into custody. Both Sweet and Kessler were subject to a traffic stop on Harriet St. in the Village of Allegany due to multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. Kessler was found to have an active felony bench warrant out of the Cattaraugus County Sheriffs Office. During the traffic stop investigation drug paraphernalia was observed in plain view which led to a vehicle search. Following the vehicle search 15.9 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a scale, miscellaneous packaging material, and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia were located. Both Kessler and Sweet were transported to the Cattaraugus County Sheriffs Office Olean Substation for processing. Both Kessler and Sweet were processed and transported to the Town of Hinsdale Court for an arraignment on the following charges: Kessler: Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree – Stimulant, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Degree – Packaging Materials, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Degree – Scales, and the Felony Bench Warrant; Sweet: Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree – Stimulant, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Degree – Packaging Materials, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Degree – Scales, Operate Unregistered Motor Vehicle, Operate Uninspected Motor Vehicle, Park/Stand on Highway. Both Kessler and Sweet were remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail and are due in the Village of Allegany Court at a later date for further proceedings.
