Obituary: William (Bill) Walters, 56, Greenwood

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of William (Bill) Walters on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at his home in Greenwood, NY- a man whose love, laughter, and loyalty left a lasting imprint on everyone lucky enough to have known him.

Bill was born on September 28,1968 in Hornell NY. He spent much of his life in Howard, Avoca, and Cohocton areas before settling in Greenwood 3 years ago.
Bill is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his four daughters- Crystal, Holly, Billie, and Alicia- and by his grandchildren who lit up his world: Connor, Elora, Lola and Aria. He was incredibly proud of each of them and never missed a chance to brag about their accomplishments.
He is also survived by his loving partner, Jody and his bonus children, Sarah, Christen, and Nicholas- whom he loved as his own. His deep family ties extended to his devoted parents Richard and Mary Walters, and his sisters Thelma and Sharon. Along with his nieces: Amanda, and Melissa, and his nephew: Joshuah and Julie Walters, the mother of his four children.
Bill was a hard worker, serving as General Manager for Cathcart Rail out of Lakeville, NY. He was also a fierce lover of life- the kind of man who could light up any room with his smile, his quick wit, and his signature laugh. His heart was as big as his presence, and he gave of himself without hesitation-whether to his family or friends, or even a stranger in need.
Above all else, Bill was a loyal fan- of his family, of life, and of course his beloved Buffalo Bills, who never had a more faithful supporter.
His passing leaves a hole in the hearts of many, but his spirit will live on in every laugh, every shared memory, and every Sunday game day.
Friends and family wishing to remember Bill are asked to consider a contribution to their charity of choice.
Rest easy Bill, your love echoes on.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday (April 15, 2025) at Howard Cemetery at 2:30 PM.A Celebration Of Life will be announced at a later date.
