Customer service is top priority at the Allegany County DMV. Understanding that sometimes a trip to the DMV can be stressful, our focus is to make each visit as quick and seamless as possible. We are continuously looking for ways to improve efficiency. In addition to having a wonderful knowledgeable and experienced staff, we are always keeping up with the newest technological advancements. The Allegany County DMV will soon be offering additional online services that can help streamline your DMV visit.
“We are always doing our best to overcome the stigma that comes along with an impending visit to the DMV by focusing on efficiency, and even a little fun if you’re a new driver.” said Mandi Joyce-Phelps, Deputy Clerk III/DMV Supervisor. “Recently, we installed a new sign complete with a working car horn for new drivers to “beep” to celebrate passing their permit test.”
Soon, any New York resident looking to apply for a REAL ID or Enhanced ID in the Belmont office can now get digitally pre-screened prior to visiting the Allegany County DMV. As a reminder, beginning May 7, 2025, all U.S. travelers must have a REAL ID to board domestic flights and access certain federal facilities.
Customers who take advantage of this service can feel confident knowing that they have all the required paperwork and verification documents they need before ever stepping foot in the DMV. Customers interested in getting pre-screened can visit www.dmv.ny.gov/driver-license/enhanced-or-real-id. You will have the option to choose the Belmont office during registration. After submitting an application for pre-screening, customers will receive an email with instructions to fix any errors and next steps.
“We want to make sure every customer that comes into the DMV has a pleasant experience. An important component of a successful visit is making sure you have everything you need before you come in.” Joyce-Phelps added.
The Allegany County DMV prides itself on being a small, customer-focused office. The numerous weekly visitors from outside the county who travel long distance just to visit our DMV are a testament to the great customer service provided here. Jenny E., a recent customer left the following review after her visit “The Belmont DMV is really the best! The employees are so kind and helpful! I just went in with a stack of paperwork and she helped me figure out what I needed, I know it was a lot for her, yet she was so kind!”
Unlike larger offices, the Allegany County DMV does not require an appointment for any of the services they provide.
