Allegany County Land Bank Announces Planned Demolition at 26 Main St., Almond, NY, with Vision for New Home Development

Almond, NY – November 14, 2024 – The Allegany County Land Bank is announcing plans for the demolition of the property located at 26 Main Street in Almond, NY. The demolition, slated to take place in 2024, is part of the Land Bank’s ongoing efforts to revitalize and improve neighborhoods throughout Allegany County.

The property, which has been vacant for some time, has fallen into significant disrepair. The current structure has been analyzed and reviewed for the purpose of renovation but upon detailed analysis it is not financially reasonable to undertake this for the Land Bank. The demolition is seen as a critical step in removing a property that brings blight to the Main Street of Almond and preparing the site for future development. The Land Bank is committed to transforming this space into a new, attainable housing opportunity for the community.

“Our goal is to turn this property into a valuable asset for Almond,” said Jason Isaman, Executive Director of the Allegany County Land Bank. “By clearing the site and securing grant funding, we hope to build a new home that will provide much-needed housing and contribute to the long-term vitality of the area.”

The Allegany County Land Bank will actively seek state and federal grant opportunities to fund the construction of a new single-family home on the site. The Land Bank envisions this new home as a step toward addressing local housing needs and supporting the overall revitalization of the Almond community.

Demolition is scheduled for this winter, with plans for construction to begin once funding is secured. The Land Bank encourages local residents and community stakeholders to stay informed about progress on this project by reaching out to via email or phone.
