Exciting Times for Alfred University

Today, Alfred University hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of its new Space Materials Institute!  This groundbreaking institute within the Inamori School of Engineering will advance aerospace and space exploration through cutting-edge materials science. 

Alfred University alumna Holly Shulman ’87 (left), now director of the Institute, joined Dean Gabrielle Gaustad ’04 (center), and CACT director David Gottfried (right) in the ribbon-cutting. The event was capped off by Alfred faculty, students, and NASA's Dr. Kang N. Lee, who delivered the annual John F. McMahon Lecture. 

With support from industry leaders like NASA, SpaceX, Blue Origin, and more, the Space Materials Institute is set to foster hands-on learning for students and bolster New York’s aerospace capabilities. Here’s to innovation that reaches for the stars!
