Wellsville Garden Report for 7/18/2020

By Andrew Harris

Travel where ever you want, Wellsville is one of the most beautiful places in the world at the peak of summer.  Rolling green hills, wildlife galore, an iconic river running through a village that has a Main Street USA that is picture perfect!!
A group that keeps this Rockwellian business district looking beautiful needs to be recognized for creating some outstanding garden art this year.  They have installed dozens of massive flower planters on Main Street that are currently in peak form.  Its not just great eye candy for those who travel through, but these little gardens create a super experience for the pedestrian.   The happy group who are delivering you this beauty operate a pro-business non-profit called the Wellsville Development Corporation.
The real humans who do this work for you and I are Heather Joyce, Mary Kate Cole, Briana Calcote, Carrie Redman, Melissa Niedermaier, Nick Davis, Anna Joyce-Drury, Molly Cole, and Megan Freeman.  If you see these local community gardeners(and growers) throw them a big THANK YOU for making this community BEAUTIFUL!!!

A special thanks to the most voracious photog in Wellsville, Melanie Hunt Streeter for the great shots of the flowers!!!
** Fassett Greenspace update:  The peas got eaten!!!  The people seem to love the swiss chard, and the summer squashes are being grabbed up daily!!  Super glad people are enjoying the food, watch for a large cucumber crop that will need lots of harvesting to reach potential production.  Like squashes, smaller cucumbers taste better. The celery crop is still plenty, red Russian kale(still be flea beetled but great eating), and about twenty different herb crops. Its going to be hotter than a two dollar pistol, go get ice cream at Sugardaddies or beer at the Still water.  Let the kids play the instruments and grab some fresh food for dinner!!
