Belmont: Telephone Support Groups for Dementia Caregivers in Allegany County to Start in May

Belmont, NY - Providing care for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease can be stressful and isolating, and support groups can provide coping tools and a welcoming embrace from others in the same position.

Support groups will be offered in the month of May through a confidential telephone conference line on May 6 at 1:00 p.m. and May 19 at 1:00 p.m. The Alzheimer’s Association has set up a confidential conference call number with 8by8 Conference systems. Allegany County will be offering the telephone Support Groups at the same times that the support groups have been scheduled on the first Wednesday of the month and the third Tuesday of the month. You can attend either one or both.

The Alzheimer's Association Western New York chapter oversees close to three dozen monthly caregiver support groups across the region. In Allegany County, the Chapter works with the Allegany County Office for the Aging to provide access to these groups. The groups meet monthly and are designed to provide emotional and social support for caregivers and help participants develop methods and skills to solve problems.

May 6, 2020 1st Wednesday, 1:00 p.m.
May 19, 2020 3rd Tuesday, 1:00 p.m.
