Alfred mayor comments

An employee of the Village of Alfred has tested positive for COVID19.  The employee is in quarantine at home.  It is believed that the infection was contracted at an event well outside of this area. Three other employees, who worked closely with the individual are also being tested.

During this wait for test results, village employees will continue to be on the job but in as small groups as possible with all practices for safety in the face of coronavirus in place.  All other employees who shared work space have been informed and will have access to testing. Results will be available between four and eight days after the initial test.

Over the weekend, using equipment borrowed from Bolivar fire company, the Village Hall was decontaminated. Therefore, we are looking for a full week and future times of "business as usual."   We continue to emphasize the need for social distancing and safe health practices: everyone wearing a mask, hand-washing, and other good health measures to protect for us to protect ourselves and those around us.

Alfred is a caring community.  We thank our residents for support and care for the person afflicted, and ask for thoughts and hopes for the few others who worked in close contact.
