The Senior Class of 2020 has had a uniquely challenging
senior year. They have lost their Senior Trips, Proms, Spring Sports Seasons
and the final months of what is a memorable and important time in a person’s
life. Alco FCU usually awards two winning scholarships to applicants that are
members and meet the Credit Union’s high standards for scholastic success and
community involvement. To help celebrate this year’s special group and give
back even more to our communities, the Alco FCU Board of Directors has
authorized awarding 6 scholarships this year for a total of $3,000. Congratulation to this years’ winners:

Ruxton |
|
Sisson |
Charis Ruxton and Elizabeth Sisson from Friendship Central
School, Nathan Pinney, Kaden Moyer and Caden Larabee from Cuba-Rushford Central
School and Cody Schneider from Genesee Valley Central School.
Charis is active with her Trap Team as you can see by her
Senior picture. She earned High Female in 2017 and 2019 for the Southern Tier
Scholastic Youth Trap Team. She has won Female
Athlete of the Year for 2017 and 2018. Is two-time winner of the Army: National
Scholar Athlete Award and winner of the US Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete
Award. She has a love for the outdoors and aspires to become a Field or
Wildlife Conservation Biologist. She plans on attending SUNY JCC in the fall.
Elizabeth is going to Keuka College this fall and would like
to be an English Major with the goal of being an editor for a publishing
company. She has served as her class treasurer for 3 years, co-captain of her
varsity soccer team, and won an Art Excellence Award. She has served on Student
Council and helped with a local blood drive while winning a perfect attendance
award and High Honor Roll awards.

Pinney |
Nathan Pinney is the CCAA Division 3 Varsity Bowling MVP and
Big 30 Player of the Week. He was the team captain of his Varsity Soccer Team,
Student Council Rep and Treasurer. He also played Varsity Baseball. He’s worked
at Deb’s Lil Deli in West Clarksville and has helped with the Garlic Fest and Fish
and Wildlife. Nathan will be pursuing an Architecture degree from Alfred State
College in the fall.

Moyer |
Kaden Moyer plans to study Business & Finance at Alfred
State College. He has won the Nellis Award for Hockey, won MIP for his baseball
team, and a Leadership award for soccer while serving as Varsity Captain. He’s
had High Honor all 4 quarters of all 4 years of high school. He’s been in the
Spanish Club and Fish and Wildlife and has worked the last two and a half years
for Tasta Pizza.

Larabee |
Caden Larabee will be attending Alfred State College this
fall and be working towards a degree in Surveying. He’s in the National Honor
Society and has been on the High Honor Roll four years in High School. He’s
been Captain of the Soccer team and has helped locally with the Garlic Festival
and as a helper in the Elementary School while working at Carpies Grill.

Schneider |
Cody Schneider plans on studying Criminal Justice at
Mansfield University. He has won numerous awards for Soccer, Baseball, and
Basketball including Sportsmanship and Most Dedicated. He’s Big 30 in
Basketball, a Ronald McDonald All-Star and was on the Section 5 All Tourney
Team. He’s helped ref 3rd through 6th grade basketball tournaments, has helped
make care packages for needy families, and been on the National Honor Society.
