Is Allegany County experiencing an Industrial evacuation?

Despite some huge retail losses in Allegany County in 2019, sales tax revenues were actually up from 2018. That's great news! When it comes to industry in Allegany County, the headline dims. In about three months, the union (shop) workers at Siemen's (formerly Dresser Rand) on Coats Street in Wellsville will be sent down the road. Many of the "white collar" workers will be begin a daily commute to the Olean facility.  It's a complex story for anyone, not currently working at the Coats Street facility. One thing is clear. The Wellsville community and the county as a whole, will take an economic hit.
To be clear, economic negotiations often occur in private. Numerous Allegany County public officials have said, time and again, that they are working on the issue.
The County Planning and Economic Development Committee will meet January 15th. According to the agenda, the Office of Development says:
Here's the rub...month after month after month...the same words appear. For the common person, it appears to be a 'place-holder,' just words copied and pasted every month. Perhaps not. As I said, most economic negotiations don't occur in a public forum. Without spoiling the outcome, it would be welcome news if county officials spilled their guts...and told the taxpayers:
  1. Is there legitimate progress
  2. Are there companies interested in the site (no names needed, just...is it real)
  3. Change the copy and paste policy.
As for the former Air Preheater...I've not heard an official word...plenty of gossip, buy nothing official. I'd don't print gossip, despite what some officials say to the contrary. The Main Street facility shut down...and the Andover Road facility is limping. Never see a mention in county documents.
I'm not at war with Allegany County. I've fallen on the sword before for missteps. It's time the county gives local residents...just a tad more info...Transparency. It...actually does work.
