Land Bank Removing Blight From Around Allegany County

In the last 12 months the Allegany County Land Bank has facilitated the demolition of 7 vacant, abandoned, or otherwise blighted properties around Allegany County with 3 more slated to be razed in 2019.
Pictured is the Land Bank's most recent demolition project located at the corner of Maple and Second Street in Andover. The removal of this eye sore was much appreciated by the neighbors who took time to thank the contractors and Land Bank for removing the long-time problem property.

Some of the post-demolition empty lots are sold to neighbors, some will be the sights of new affordable homes, and some will become the sites of creative place-making such as community gardens or other projects that will benefit the local communities.
The Land Bank is also in the process of rehabilitating four distressed homes and the construction of two new homes to be offered to low-moderate income residents.
