by an international denomination.
Rev. Carl Kemp of Knights Creek Church and his wife, Linda,
are featured in the May newsletter of the Evangelical Methodist Church, having
served at the same location for over 20 years.
"God is doing wonderful things" at Knights Creek,
according to the article, with the pastor crediting two years of consistent
community-focused prayer from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. every weekday as being
"the catalyst for God's Spirit moving so freely in the church and
community."
It is the first church among 18 in Allegany County to host
an hour-long National Day of Prayer gathering for the public, starting at 6
a.m. Thursday, May 2. A list of
additional churches participating in the county-wide effort is available at

The international publication notes the church's ministry to
the community through weekly Celebrate Recovery meetings for individuals and
teens struggling with any type of hurts, hangups, habits or life issues, a free
monthly Community Cafe. alternating with a movie night on the First Friday of
the month, and free music lessons for children, provided by music missionary
David Peralta, a member of the Simon Bolivar Venezuelan National Symphony
Orchestra.
The church also hosts a free Community Dinner each week
following its 11 a.m. service and for several other special observances during
the year and a growing Friday night children, youth and young adults
group. Celebrate Recovery facilitators
also are part of a team that provides Celebrate Recovery Inside support groups
for both male and female inmates each week at Allegany County Jail, two of only
six in jails and prisons in New York State.
Pastor Carl has served the church since 1983, first as its
associate pastor and then as pastor since 1996.
