PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES: DECEMBER 2018 REPORT
A. General Planning:
• The County Planning Board meeting is scheduled for tonight December 19, 2018. Please mark your calendars for January 16, 2018 for the Annual Dinner meeting of the County Planning Board. This will be held at the Off Duty Club in Belmont.
• Comprehensive Plan Review prep work: formatting, reorganization, edits and additions – throughout the month; the plan is now at about 75% Complete with major formatting, reorganization complete. Final data acquisition, map generation and proofing are
scheduled for the next few months.
• Participated as facilitator in meeting between Village of Bolivar & SUNY Alfred regarding future Visualization Study opportunity.
• Collected and HMP resolutions and submitted them to NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services.
• Reviewed proposed law for the Town of Burns related to solar and provided information for the County Planning Board related to this.
• Completed webinar on PACE Programs and the REMI PI+ program.
• Participated in webinar on economic development and climate resiliency.
• Finalized research and developed short report on watershed analysis in response to
request by Legislative Committees, related to impoundments.
• Attended Town of Burns/Village of Canaseraga meeting for Downtown Revitalization
efforts
• Attended public presentation of the Burns Solar facility project in Canaseraga. This project is in the beginning stages and is currently projected to be approximately 500 acres generating ~80MWac to power about 10,000 households.
• Took training meeting with consultant regarding NYS Article 10 wind and solar approval process.
• Met with representatives from Town of Rushford regarding Zoning issues.
• Attended second Tourism “Sherpa” stakeholders meeting.
• Attended a Community solar public hearing in Caneadea.
B. Geographic Information Systems [GIS]
• Updated various tourism related GIS data layers with 2018 information including: gas stations, convenience stores, grocery stores, motels, hotels, B&B, Campgrounds, libraries, summer tourism information, winter tourism information, etc.
• Prepared a map for the horse trail committee to be used in a grant application of the trail locations in Allegany County
• Prepared multiple maps for inclusion in the new Tourism Guide as a pull-out map.
• Determined next steps and started implementation for the “address” dataset
improvement.
• Met with 911, Deputy County Administrator, Sheriff regarding 911 addressing project.
C. County Website:
• Added events to the website for December/January.
• Mason Digital is finalizing the data transfer process for the Tourism website. We expect this to be live within the next 30 days.
• Participated in conference calls to discuss the County website and the Tourism migration.
D. Sites:
• Updated commercial properties list on website
• Responded to Buffalo Niagara site requests.
E. Marketing & PR:
• Coordinated and participated in the Marketing Communications Campaign Committee Meeting
• Organized and attended Marketing Communications Campaign Committee Meetings;
• Finalized RFP for Marketing Research & Strategy and distributed to 15 marketing firms throughout NYS
F. Business Support Services:
• Assisted local business development efforts.
• Outreach to website visitors who submitted their information to download Business
Resource Guide & Incentive Guide.
G. General Business:
• Met with new WNY Regional Director for Empire State Development.
• Participated in “Assessing Your Community’s Economic & Climate Resiliency” Webinar
• Acted as a judge on panel for ACCORD’s Business Plan Competition
• Participated in the Annual three Chamber of Commerce winter event.
• Acted as a judge on panel for ACCORD’s Business Plan Competition

• Prepared, marketed, coordinated and held Young Professionals Group event in Wellsville;
H. Meetings
• Participated in Website Update Conference Calls and the ADA compliance conference calls.
• Staff prepared for and attended meetings for the Comprehensive Plan Review Committee, County Planning Board meeting. Attended meetings including: Board of Legislators, IDA, Planning and Development Committee, Land Bank, STW, County Administrator,
participated in Young Professionals Group Conference Calls.
I. Administrative
• Finalized Tourism promotional services contract with Greater Allegany County Chamber of Commerce.
• Reviewed audits for Planning, Development and Tourism as well as Payroll.
• Finalized spending for 2018 and completed all purchases as directed for Planning &
Development Budgets. Currently both Budgets appear to be going to return funds to the General Fund.
