Steuben County Land Bank property open house set for Oct. 26-27

BATH -- An open house on a property in the City of Corning rehabilitated through the Steuben County Land Bank Corp. (SCLBC) is slated for Oct. 26-27. The property, located at 161 Kingsbury Ave., was completely renovated in 2018 with an open concept kitchen, updated utilities, new walls and flooring and is listed at $115,000. The property is among the first round of properties selected by SCLBC in November 2017 after assessments by Arbor Housing & Development indicated the blighted properties could be restored. An independent corporation, the land bank was approved by the Steuben Legislature in late April 2017 and received a $500,000 two-year grant. The grant is funded through the state’s settlements with the nation’s largest banks over misconduct that contributed to the housing crisis. The board represents a joint effort by county officials and municipalities and includes the city manager of Corning and mayors of the Village of Bath and City of Hornell. The land bank board expects to reduce "neighborhood blight," keep marketable properties on the tax roll and improve the housing stock in Steuben. Open House times are: 4-6 p.m. Oct. 26 11 a.m.-noon Oct. 27 For more information on the Kingsbury property, go to https://www.steubencony.org/pages.asp?PID=8872 https://www.steubencony.org/Files/Documents/land_bank/properties_for_sale/kingsbury_price_reduction.pdf
