Allegany County Legislature meets Oct. 22 - pay raises expected to be approved

When the Allegany County Legislature meets Monday afternoon in Belmont, it will likely approved a local law authorizing salary increases for ten officials. Those employee's and salary amounts are: 
County Attorney - $102,000
County Clerk - $75,637
County Treasurer - $87,624
Employment & Training Director - $67,006
Personnel Officer - $75,011
Public Defender - $106,263
Public Health Director - $82,985
Public Works Superintendent - $92,322
Real Property Tax Director - $73,742
Social Services Commissioner - $85,904
If approved, the salary adjustments would take effect January 1st.
County lawmakers will also voted on setting a public hearing date for the 2019 county budget. The Board is considering November 8th at 7 p.m. in the legislative chambers.
In other action, the Board will
  • Vote to hire a temporary full-time Public Health Nurse 
  • Vote to appoint Gwendolyn Cooper of Belmont to the Traffic Safety Board
  • Vote to approve the transfer of $73,500 within Department of Public Works accounts to cover a shortfall in the Striping of County Roads account, cover the increase in fuel prices, and for technology upgrades for the four district shops. The money would be removed from the snow removal - general supplies account.
