A Hornell woman was arrested early Saturday following a bizarre chase and crash involving pedestrians and trees. According to a press release from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office, the Olean police department alerted deputies to a hit and run involving pedestrians and the suspect was fleeing the city. Deputies quickly located a vehicle matching the suspect description turning from State Route 16 onto Godfrey Hollow Road traveling at a high rate of speed. The driver was identified as 25-year-old Brittany A. Clark of 175 Prospect Street in Hornell. Deputies said she lost control of her vehicle, became airborne, struck two trees before landing in a creek bed near the Olean Town Highway Building. Police said Clark sustained non life-threatening injuries and was treated and released from Olean General. She was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, speed not reasonable, failure to keep right and unlicensed operator. Clark was arraigned in Portville Town Court and was remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail on $30,000 cash bail. Other charges are pending.
