Obituary: Rudolph C. “Rudy” Briggs, age 87, Yorks Corners

YORKS CORNERS - Rudolph C. “Rudy” Briggs, age 87, of the Stannards Road passed away on Monday August 20, 2018, at Buffalo General after a short illness. He was born on August 10, 1931 in Wellsville to George and Rotha Hazlett Briggs. On May 22, 1959 in Shongo he married Delores Hilligas who survives. Rudy was a lifelong resident of this area who graduated from Wellsville Central High School. He served with U.S. Army from 1951 until 1954 earning the Korean Service Medal with 4 bronze stars. He had worked for Air Preheater and later became a dairy farmer. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a member of the American Legion Post #702 in Wellsville.

Surviving besides his wife of 59 years are a son, Michael [Rebecca] Briggs of Independence; a daughter, Julie [Brad] Cunningham of Willing; 4 grandchildren, Shannon [Shane] Dunbar, Ryott [Kait] Briggs, Brittany [Captain Phillip] Sutton, and 2nd Lieutenant Zackary [Mikela] Briggs; a great grandson, Sterling Briggs; a brother and sister in-law, Matt [Sandy] Knehpler; 2 nieces, and a nephew.
