Cuba man receives probation in January knife attack on grandmother

A Cuba man has received probation after he stabbed his 61-year-old grandmother following a dispute at her home at 65 West Main Street in Cuba January 10th. Allegany County Judge Terry Parker this morning sentenced Briar York, 20, to serve fives on probation. He was also assessed a $325 court surcharge, a DNA fee and the judge issued a "refrain from" order of protection.
According to the original report, York entered the home where he lives with his grandmother. A verbal dispute quickly turned violent and York stabbed his grandmother in the shoulder with a kitchen knife. State Police Investigator Scott Cicirello said at the time that other family members and children were home at the time of the assault but were not involved in the dispute. York was originally charged with felony 2nd degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon, but under a plea arrangement, he pleaded guilty to attempted assault.
