Buffalo TV: The only thing constant is change
The faces that make up Buffalo TV news are changing...
|
Kevin O'Connell |
Topping the list is the immediate departure (as of July 13th) of long-time weather forecaster Kevin O'Connell. Contract negotiations for the quarter century icon apparently collapsed, leaving O'Connell at the curb. The station will air an on-air tribute to O'Connell tonight. Kevin will be in the studio. O'Connell is being replaced by weekend weathercaster Heather Waldman, who has rapidly been developing her own fan base.

Jordan Williams |
On the news side of things, WIVB will say goodbye to Jordan Williams, who has been with the station since 2013. After the July sweeps, Williams will return to his home area in Texas, where he will be the Assistant News Director at KBMT-TV. Williams said his move was based on his desire to return home.

Erica Brecher |
Meanwhile, Erica Brecher is jumping from WGRZ to WIVB as the new weekend evening anchor. She'll also handle reporting assignments during the week. Prior to moving to Buffalo, Brecher worked at NBC affiliate WETM in Elmira. She also dabbled in radio and I had the opportunity to work with her at an Elmira radio station. Brecher was just as good on the radio as she is on television. She'll also enjoy an added bonus by leaping to WIVB...her husband, meteorologist Andrew Baglini works at channel 4 as well. In the world of media, the only constant is change.
