Allegany County churches will focus on community transformation throughout the area this weekend as prayer gatherings continue their Journey to Transformation initiative.
A public, multi-church praise and worship and prayer night, with live music, will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, October 22, at Riverside Assembly of God Church, 3218 Riverside Drive (Route 19), Wellsville.
This interdenominational, intergenerational and multicultural movement provides a communities emphasis on combating issues of addiction, abuse, racism, suicide, poverty, family dysfunction and more that pastors say are extremely serious issues throughout this area, the United States and the world.
That gathering will be preceded on Friday night, October 20, with rotating weekly prayer for host, community and county churches and Christian service organizations, along with transformation within Allegany County and beyond, at Wellspring Ministries, 5993 County Road 16, Belfast.
The weekly prayer sessions are held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., with an October 27 gathering scheduled for Southern Tier Youth for Christ, 55 East Fassett Street, Wellsville.
Ongoing area prayer gatherings, also open to the public, are scheduled from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. each weekday morning at Knights Creek Evangelical Methodist Church, 2987 County Road 9, Scio; 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Wednesdays at the Belfast Free Methodist Church; and from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturdays at the Powerhouse Youth Center, 23 West Main Street, Fillmore.
