Two Potter County bridge jobs set to start - REVISED BY DOT

Ulysses, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will begin two bridge replacement projects towards the end of May on Route 449 in Potter County. Temporary roadways will be in place for each job. Replacing these bridges will allow PennDOT to remove them from Potter County’s structurally deficient list. The bridges are:
· A Route 449 bridge spanning a tributary of Pine Creek in in the village of Brookland, Ulysses Township. The current 20-foot bridge was originally built in 1930 and carries an average of 700 vehicles daily.
· A Route 449 bridge spanning a middle branch of the Genesee River in the village of Gold, Ulysses Township. The current 21-foot bridge was originally built in 1930 and carries an average of 460 vehicles daily.

Initial work will get underway later this month to construct temporary roadways for each job. After initial work is complete, removal of the existing slab bridges will begin, followed by replacement work. The new bridges are expected to be complete by mid-November.

Other project work includes paving, guide rail installation, pavement markings, and miscellaneous items. All work is weather and schedule dependent. LTT Trucking, LLC., of North Bend, PA is the contractor on this $1.4 million project.
