Variety Kids Telethon a success locally

Katie O'Grady, Keegan O'Grady and Brandon Bailey were ready to accept donations

The 55th Annual Variety Kids Telethon came to a successful completion Sunday evening with a total of $1,025,777 raised throughout Western New York.  Locally, the Wellsville Area Satellite, serving its 38th consecutive year raised a total of $11,164 through telephone pledges and year-long fundraising.
Satellite Chairman Tim Colligan acknowledged that the trend has continued to decline in phone pledges but we were very successful in raising funds through walk-in donation, program book ads, and other year-long fund-raising. This brings the 38 year total that the Wellsville Area Satellite and all its partners have raised for the Women's and Children's Hospital and other Western New York Children's charities to $343,223.
This year, the Wellsville Satellite also served as the only remote phone center operation outside of the Telethon's broadcast from the Seneca Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls. Our phone Center was staffed by a team of student volunteers chaired by Junior Brandon Bailey. "Brandon did an excellent job organizing and leading his team of volunteers to man the telephone and take donations during the telethon 12 hour broadcast" offered Satellite Chairman Tim Colligan.

Brandon was assisted by students, Brogan Bailey, Mattie Bailey, Sadie Embser, David Graham, Shannon Nye, Katie O'Grady, Keegan O'Grady, Pacey Scott, Jessica Spinelli, and Terrien Taylor.

Tim Colligan concluded by thanking everybody involved with this year's telethon activities. " Once again, the Wellsville Area community has stepped up to help the sick and handicapped children of Western New York and Northern Pennsylvania".
